Why I Joined uPlej

Through the years my family and I have become quite accustomed to hearing the word cancer and have seen the effects it has had on several of our family members and friends as they have had to courageously battle with this dreadful disease in one form or another. Some, thankfully, have won their battle, but there are others who lost their brave fight. One of those precious loved ones was my dear sweet mother (pictured with me above) who passed away after a battle with breast cancer at the age of 59 on 12 June 1997. I miss her dearly.

I joind uPlej for two main reasons: (1) to honor the memory of my mother and her brave battle with breast cancer and (2) to show my support to such organizations as the American Cancer Society. This organization works hard to not only find ways to help cancer patients and their families, but to also one day find a cure for this disease. I hope that others will join me in supporting them as well.
